LANAP

LANAP

Do you have gum disease but don't want to treat it with invasive surgical methods?

LANAP® is a highly advanced treatment that gently removes diseased gum tissue, resulting in minimal pain and recovery time.

Treat your gum disease, save your teeth, and improve your oral health with Dr. Daniel Sok Woong Han in McLean, VA.

Understanding LANAP

LANAP, or Laser-Assisted New Attachment Procedure, is an innovative dentistry technique that is used to treat gum disease. With this laser technology, our periodontist can target inflammation, remove diseased tissue, eliminate harmful bacteria, and decrease the depth of periodontal pockets, all while leaving healthy tissues intact.

Dr. Han is a certified dental laser expert who uses the PerioLase® MVP-7™, the only laser that has been FDA-approved for performing the LANAP protocol.

Consultation

You will first meet with one of our dentists at our office in McLean, VA, to review your dental history, discuss your symptoms, and determine your candidacy for this dental procedure.

Remove Infected Tissue

During your appointment, Dr. Han will place the PerioLase laser in the periodontal pocket, where it will gently eliminate diseased gum tissue and infection-causing bacteria to promote healing.

Remove Tartar

Your periodontist will use scaling techniques to remove tartar buildup from your teeth, allowing for better gum reattachment.

Gum Reattachment

The effects of the laser stimulate the formation of a blood clot, which will allow the gum to reattach to the tooth root, keeping the tooth firmly in place.

At-Home Care

Once your treatment with our dentist is complete, you can return home. It's imperative that you follow a good oral hygiene routine that involves brushing your teeth twice a day, flossing once a day, and using mouthwash to prevent a recurrence of gum disease.

We Also Offer LAPIP

LAPIP® is a protocol used to treat peri-implantitis, gum disease that occurs around a dental implant. Our periodontist can use the PerioLase laser to remove bacteria from between your implant and gums to save the supporting bone and prevent implant failure.
